This book is about a girl named Belly who has liked this boy Conrad for a very long time. Even though she only sees him in the summer at cousins beach, she has never missed a summer. Cousins beach is her favorite place and the place where Belly, her mom's best friend Susannah, and Susannah's sons Conrad and Jeremiah see eachother. Even though Conrad has never liked Belly back, she feels like this is the summer because people started noticing her she isn't little Belly anymore. Jeremiah has started noticing Belly more and how pretty she has gotten since last summer. She even thinks she likes Cam, a guy staying at cousins for the summer. But she just can't stop loving Conrad.
This book makes me think about all of the girls who have crushes on boys and how this story realates to that. Belly has liked this guy for years and only sees him in the summer. Even through a whole school year she still likes Conrad and only Conrad. If she ever loses interest in him she just comes right back to loving him all over again. This shows how much she loves Conrad and how she will never stop until she gets him.
I am sad and happy when I think of this book because it shows how life can be unpredictable. sometimes you get what you want but sometimes you don't. Like how sometimes Conrad is all flirty but sometimes he wants nothing to do with Belly. This book shows that life is unpredictable.
